Satan’s faulty plans always backfire

By Jon Courson –

But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. (1 Cor. 2:7-8 KJV)

Who are the princes to whom Paul refers? Because Jesus referred to Satan as the prince of this world (John 12:31), and because Paul would say we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities of spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12), I believe the princes of this world refer to Satan and his demons. I believe Paul is saying that had Satan and his demons known what would happen when Jesus was crucified, they wouldn’t have gone that route.

Why? They thought by crucifying Christ, they would get rid of Him. Therefore, what a shock it must have been when they realized it was His plan all along to pay for man’s sins and break the power of sin.

I camp here for a moment to remind you that Satan’s plans always backfire.

“We’ll kill Him,” Satan hissed.

“We’ll crucify Him,” his demons echoed – only to find out that there was now salvation for people who would never have been saved otherwise, that the doors of heaven were now open to sinners like me.

“We’ll stop the second coming of Christ,” they said. “We’ll inspire a German wallpaper hanger to go crazy, rally an entire nation around him, and destroy the Jews in totality.” – which he would have done had World War II lasted another six months. But even this plan backfired because Hitler’s madness created such sympathy in the world community for the Jews that they were given their own country.

“We’ll kill babies one by one,” Satan and his demons declare as hundreds of thousands of babies are slaughtered through abortion. But even this plan is backfiring because Scripture tells us clearly that those who die before the age of accountability – before they can mentally make a decision concerning their own destiny – are taken up into heaven (2 Samuel 12:23; 1 Corinthians 7:14). Thus, multiplied thousands of children who statistically would not have opened their heart to Jesus are being short-circuited into heaven to live eternally.

Am I suggesting we should be pro-abortion? Of course not! I am saying that although Satan is a murderer and a destroyer, that although he never has a good day, that although he never says, “I’ll back off and be nice” – his plans ultimately blow up in his face, and that God’s purposes – whether in your life personally or throughout history – come to pass perfectly.
