Conservative commentator Candace Owens has intensified her claims about the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, alleging deep-state involvement, possible U.S. military ties, and even multinational conspiracies in the tragic shooting that claimed Kirk’s life on September 10, 2025.

In recent podcast episodes and social media posts, Owens has questioned the official narrative surrounding the death of her former colleague and friend, whom she once described as a “brother.” She has suggested that Kirk’s shifting views on certain foreign policy issues may have made him a target, and pointed to anonymous sources claiming government or military complicity.

“It feels like today will be the day that the government can no longer deny it. Charlie Kirk was assassinated and our military was involved,” Owens posted on Instagram, as reported by The Times of India this month.

One of Candace Owens’ prominent conspiracy theories about the assassination of Kirk involves the Egyptian government/military.

Specifically, Owens has repeatedly promoted the so-called “Egyptian plane theory,” alleging that Egyptian Air Force or military planes were tracking or surveilling Erika Kirk (Charlie Kirk’s widow) and possibly Charlie himself for years.

She claimed flight-tracking data showed these planes overlapping with Erika’s locations dozens of times (up to 73 instances between 2022 and 2025), that planes were present or active at Provo Airport around the time of the September 10, 2025, shooting, and that this pointed to Egyptian involvement in a broader plot—sometimes tied to multinational elements (e.g., Israel or France).

Owens has described this as evidence of surveillance or a “military operation,” citing anonymous sources, whistleblowers, and public flight data (though initial claims about plane timings were corrected after errors, like confusing UTC for a Utah time zone). She doubled down even after mockery or debunking attempts, arguing the panic around the theory proved its validity, as reported by CNN and RadarOnline.

These claims have been widely criticized as baseless, with no supporting evidence from official investigations (which point to lone suspect Tyler Robinson). Erika Kirk and others have urged Owens to stop spreading them, noting potential harm to the family and legal process. Owens has also linked the planes to flights in/out of Israel in some episodes, expanding the theory.

These assertions have drawn sharp rebuke from those closest to Kirk. His widow, Erika Kirk, who now leads Turning Point USA, publicly urged Owens to “stop” spreading unfounded theories, warning they could taint potential jury pools in the ongoing case against suspect Tyler Robinson.

Erika Kirk and Candace Owens met privately on December 15, 2025, for a 4.5-hour discussion amid tensions over Owens’ theories about Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Both described the meeting as “productive”, with tensions reportedly thawed, though they disagreed on some points.

Candace Owens posted on X: “Erika and I had an extremely productive 4 1/2 hour meeting… We agreed much more than I had anticipated. Of course, we also disagreed on various points and people as well. Most importantly, we were able to share intel and clarify intent.” She added that “nothing was held back” and the immediate result was eased tensions, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

Erika Kirk was more reserved, stating: “Had a very productive conversation with @RealCandaceO. More to come from both of us. Looking forward to AmFest this week. Time to get back to work.”

In a subsequent podcast episode (December 16), Owens provided more details, claiming the meeting addressed disputed claims (e.g., text messages, certain theories), but she maintained skepticism about aspects of the official narrative, saying some suspicions remained unassuaged. Erika Kirk has not publicly elaborated further beyond her initial post, focusing instead on Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest conference.

No full reconciliation or apology was announced, and underlying disagreements persist, particularly on the investigation into Tyler Robinson, the charged suspect.

Kirk’s longtime pastor, Rob McCoy, rebuked Owens, emphasizing Kirk’s kindness toward her despite past disagreements. “I only wish at this tragic time of mourning she would be the friend to Charlie that he was to her,” McCoy stated, according to The Independent.

The official investigation points to 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the lone gunman, who allegedly fired a single shot from a rooftop during Kirk’s campus event at Utah Valley University. Robinson faces aggravated murder charges and has appeared in court, with prosecutors pursuing the death penalty.

Kirk’s life legacy continues to point many young people to Christ and conservative values rooted in biblical principles. May his untimely passing draw us closer to the eternal hope found only in Jesus, rather than deeper into division.
